Free Relationship Advice, from Relationship-Oneness.com

emotional vampireDo you ever feel your energy being drained when hanging around certain individuals? Is it always about them and their problems? Is there constant negativity? I like to call these energy drainers Emotional Vampires. Yes, that’s what I said…..Vampires!  They will suck the life right out of you without you being aware of it!

The first thing I notice when hanging around someone new, a family member, or longtime friend, are the words they use.  How much of the conversation is directed upon themselves?  Do I feel drained after speaking with them?  Do I feel this relationship is beneficial to my emotional well being?  Ask yourself these questions and see what you come up with.

Most of us have at least one or more Emotional Vampires in our lives without even being conscious of it. It could be a spouse, partner, parent, boss, co-worker, friend, etc. They exist everywhere!  Emotional Vampires get their fix by feeding off of your emotions…..that’s how they survive.

Have you ever experienced an ‘aha moment’? An ‘aha moment’ is when you have a moment in which an understanding takes place. I have to say that I love those moments and truly enjoy experiencing new perceptions.

Here’s a story about an ‘aha moment’ with my mother in-law, only it was her moment!

Planet Earth

My mother in-law and I were taking a drive along the coast, chatting one another’s ear off, when we got on the subject of natural disasters. My mother in-law, Julie is her name, told me why she thinks we have hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, etc. Julie said that she believes we have these disasters to wipe out areas with high crime rates due to God being angry. She holds her beliefs based on a biblical standpoint and the teachings of Christianity.

I came across this video the other day and immediately knew I wanted to share it. I hope you can find the six minutes to watch it. I’ve been thinking about writing some sort of commentary, however the video does a find job of speaking for itself. This speech was given in 1992, at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, the girls name is Severn Cullis-Suzuki and her speech was given at a UN assembly in Brazil, in this video she is 12 years old.

What did I love about this short video. First and foremost I admire her sincerity and courage at 12 years old. My favorite line… “if you don’t know how to fix it, then stop breaking it.” This video really help to put things into perspective, for me it does anyway. It reminds me to take notice of what I’m really concerned about; and is it really that big of a deal. Taking the focus off of the ego self, and placing back onto the whole self, which includes all of life.
