Have you ever experienced an ‘aha moment’? An ‘aha moment’ is when you have a moment in which an understanding takes place. I have to say that I love those moments and truly enjoy experiencing new perceptions.

Here’s a story about an ‘aha moment’ with my mother in-law, only it was her moment!

Planet Earth

My mother in-law and I were taking a drive along the coast, chatting one another’s ear off, when we got on the subject of natural disasters. My mother in-law, Julie is her name, told me why she thinks we have hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, etc. Julie said that she believes we have these disasters to wipe out areas with high crime rates due to God being angry. She holds her beliefs based on a biblical standpoint and the teachings of Christianity.

We continued on with our conversation talking about her beliefs. I then asked her if she would like to hear why I think we have natural disasters, and like most of the time, she was curious!

I began by telling Julie that everything here on Earth is conscious to some degree.  Earth is alive as a living organism. The Earth feels every emotion that we as humans experience. When there is constant struggle and negative energy that is released from us, it has to go somewhere. I believe that the energy goes into the core of the Earth and then is released in some form of manafestation.

Angry

I went back to explaining to her how us as humans go through things in life that may feel good or bad. If it’s bad, then we either express ourselves with anger, depression, crying, frustration, etc. If it’s good, we give love, happiness, laughter, and lots of joy. Once there is so much built up emotion, it has to be released. If I’m upset, most of the time I cry. With someone else, they might get really angry and become violent to release there anger. It just depends on the individual.

So back to natural disasters, the Earth gets built up with emotions too. And naturally, it has to be released. That is why we have natural disasters, the Earth releasing it’s energy, I believe.

Julie then, had her ‘aha moment’! She told me the way I had ‘put it’, made it so easy for her to understand. She also told me that others have tried to explain something similar, but not quite like that! I felt great being able to explain my belief to her and have her catch on so easily! True success! My goal was not to tell Julie that her belief wasn’t true, but to offer her a new perspective.

When we ask permission to discuss our beliefs with someone, it breaks down walls that would naturally be there if you were to just blurt them out; force them upon someone. Sometimes people aren’t willing to hear what others have to say and that’s ok. Just know that when you do ask, you’re saving yourself a tremendous amount of time if that person is… just…. not…. interested! I guess if you were looking to start an argument, then go right ahead without asking permission! Just be prepared for disappointment because in the end, most of the time there is no swaying another’s belief through confrontation.

I truly find it fascinating to open myself up to hearing different beliefs other than my own. I receive so much from it. What belief does one hold that is so strong that we never open ourself up to seeing another point of view? I’m curious? Fill me in! ? Smile
