How to Release Negative Energy; making a list out of love – journal entry 006

Wow. Today has been a difficult day for me emotionally, something I haven’t experienced in a while. As my gut twirls in knots making it hard to focus on anything, I finally had a breakthrough moment from such intense emotions. Have you ever been so disoriented from negative emotion that it made it hard to get anything done? I’m pretty sure most of us have. The questions I asked myself is, “do I really enjoy feeling these negative emotions? Do I want to continue my day like this? How could I overcome this gut wrenching feeling?”

I fell into a slump yesterday afternoon due to some personal issues. I slowly allowed this situation to drain the energy from me. I felt as though life was outside my front door and I was inside, depressed. An inner voice told me that I could regain my energy quickly if I chose to, but I ignored it most of the day. When I chose to listen, I received a short message.

Make A List

I was told to make a ‘List of Love’. Immediately I began typing my list on the computer, and as I wrote, I felt a huge ball of powerful energy building up inside of me and then flow through. I had regained an immense amount of energy! I couldn’t believe how quickly the knots in my stomach faded. It really worked!

Here is some of the list that I came up with;

  • I have a great life
  • I have the power to change my life at anytime
  • I am 100% in control of my emotions
  • I love to make people smile
  • I have a wonderful spouse
  • I am grateful for life experiences
  • I love watching the sunset
  • I love to imagine myself on an exotic island
  • I love having the ability to write
  • I love being a dork

I believe this exercise worked for me because I was willing to change my state of mind. I wanted to feel good. Nobody likes to have constant knots in their stomach, it’s not a fun experience. Try doing your own list. Sit in a quiet place where you won’t be distracted, get a notepad or computer and start writing anything that has to do with ‘Love’. Go into what you’re thankful for and what you love about life. Be in tuned with your body and how you’re feeling while doing this exercise.

The purpose of doing this list is to get you focusing back on the beauty of life and all the great things that surround you. It’s so easy to get lost in your own thoughts and emotions when feeling down, but it’s so rewarding to yourself and the others around you to get back on track.
