Remembered Journey; through the heart of a child

I had a moment the other day which seemed to rest in a place of infinity. I connected with my daughter in a way I had always desired, but had yet to experience fully. In my mind, She is the most beautiful little girl. As of now she is two, however within her is an awareness that says age holds no limits.

She was excited as could be about an afternoon at grandma’s house, the sun had made a special appearance which only made her smile shine that much brighter. To her, the surrounding trees were gi-normous, and the yard was a world all its own. After her first burst of energy which involved assesses and testing all available play options, she intently focused in on a challenge yet to be experienced.

Within grandma’s green oasis, there is a play structure that stands as tall as a house. She stares for only a few seconds and then looks into the eyes of her father. She’s only seeking a certain expression on my part, to acknowledge my willingness to walk with her. We make our way over to this corner of the yard where the play structure grew tremendously in size as we got closer and closer. At our feet was the very bottom of a seven foot tall climbing wall, which came fully equipped with a rope and strategically placed stepping rocks that only seemed worthy of a five year old.

Again, she looks up at me, I see within her the desire for growth. She knows that before she moves forward, I must be by her side all the way. Even as she began to grab the rope and gain balance, you could see on her face a nervous confidence that said, “I’m at least gonna try.”

As she held on for dear life, half way up the wall not knowing my help was minimal, she became frightened realizing the ground below was no longer a tiny step away; it wasn’t the same as being on daddy’s shoulders. She took her breather and reached up strongly for another plastic rock; it was done so gracefully I questioned the belief that she was only two. She moved once more and was now in sight of an end.

It was at this moment, I saw my own lesson more clearly. My arms were stretched upwards, slightly bent, I was doing all that I could to ensure her success while at the same time understanding her ultimate victory was in growth, not dad just pushing her up the wall. I was looking up intently, the sun rays shined through the trees as if to place a spot light on this special moment. You could feel its heat beaming down with a sense of comfort during the cold season. Distracted was I for only a moment in the absolute beauty of this experience, Adella my daughter slips ever so slightly. What took half a second must have felt timeless in the mind of Adella, she quickly regained control and felt the warmth of her daddy’s hands braced firmly upon her little rear end. The expression on her face coupled with her complete stillness displayed a message of total fear and peace.

In this timeless moment the realization of a terrible fall was all too possible, with it a sense of distress yet to be acknowledged within her young existence. Traveling this wave of new emotion, was a feeling of gratitude which could only be expressed through complete stillness.

After a full minute of silence, she began to hear her fathers words which were only that of encouragement to keep going. I’m almost certain her world at that time consisted of no noise, complete silence. My words must have come into focus slowly, as if they rode in on a pillowy cloud; the comfort it brought to her earthly mind expanded her awareness of what was real. She gradually began to understand this experience was not her own, but it was shared in love. There was an extension of self awaiting her fall, making ready warm hands to assist when truly needed.

You see, in her mind the fall was real. It had played out as a dream giving rise to a reality of fear. When the movie stops and we remember the touch of love within our grasp, we are awaken to an idea of infinite stillness in where we truly reside.

As the words I spoke to uplift her heart registered within her mind, the response was that of willingness shadowed by doubt. Quietly she said, “daddy, I wanna get down.” Still overcome with the image of defeat, she wanted to keep going but the illusion of the fall was still colorfully painted within her mind. I simply reminded her of the love she was.

We whispered together. I reminded her of the journey, of her strength, and her unbending desire to explore life more fully. Over the course of about 3 minutes, you could see her heart overcome the fears in her mind; remembering who she truly was. We began to focus on now, understanding where her feet and hands were and deciding together where they need to go next. We forgot about the end, and simply remembered what we knew to be true in this moment, allowing growth to exist freely.

Evolution was taking place in its highest form. The unique consciousness she is, was in the process of expanding to new levels of awareness. It was the experience which brought this gift; it was the act of expression that gave rise to an opportunity to grow and become educated in the higher abilities of self. Which ultimately gives back to all of society, as Adella now understands more fully her capacity to evolve.

Her success in finally reaching the peak, was internal in nature. Without the firm belief that all was possible, the challenge would have waited till another day. The firm resolve to continue on was not paid for, it was not stolen nor forced, it was indeed remembered. The climbing wall was in itself an expression created by her in physical form, to accommodate the willingness for growth. The desire she held intently, was driven deeper by knowing her daddy would assist when truly needed.

I say with the biggest of grins, I could not see her face as her hands and knees reached the top, but within my soul I know in that moment her eyes were as big as her smile. Profoundly amazed, she could not express in words how she truly felt. It was only a matter of seconds before she raced down the slide to prove once again that the impossible was truly obtainable.

Of course the second time up was easier than the first, and the third time only confirmed in her mind she was ready for a knew challenge.

We spent some more time roaming around this grassy sanctuary, and on my face was a smile I hadn’t experience in a long time. I was amazed with the story of what had just transpired, its relevance for where I was personally gave me confidence in that which I had temporarily forgotten. It is all an extension of self never fully alone, we create with our mind an experience to evolve, and the physical expression is only a tool to grow.

It’s funny how easy we tend to get caught up in the physical expression, as if the evolution of self resides within the movie. We do what we can to give ourselves meaning by attaching our identity to all things physical; forgetting its purpose as an instrument to discover the self within.

Our collective experience, yours and mine, share the same novel. Within this story we write our uniqueness that teaches beyond the hardback cover of our current lifespan. My daughter and I are each creators of our own stories and together we share a common purpose in growth, because of this understanding we are best served to work together in those times of fear and peace. Doing so in love, increases the quality of life for everyone.
